I have often heard it said that "facts are our friends." A fact is something that is unmistaken, something that is tangible, and something that is concrete. The gospel is factual in nature, and by that I mean that those who believe it are not just taking a blind leap of faith into the dark. There is much evidence to substantiate the claims of the gospel. Acts 1:3 says of Jesus, "After He had suffered, He also presented Himself alive to them by many convincing proofs." Notice the word 'proofs' there in the verse. It comes from a word that literally speaks of concrete evidence. In other words, the resurrection of Jesus is factual, and there is concrete evidence to back it up.
One of the proofs of Christ's resurrection is that it is foundational to all the preaching and teaching of the apostles. They were eyewitnesses who verified it by their own testimony. All of us know the value of eyewitness testimony. Men have been sent to prison for life by the eyewitness testimony of one or two other individuals. It should come as no surprise then that Christ was declared to be risen from the dead by not one, not two, but by hundreds of men and women who saw Him! We read of this in 1 Corinthians 15 where Paul declares the resurrectio with bold assurance. In that passage, he tells us that if the resurrection were not true, we believers would be of all men the most miserable.
Jesus presented Himself alive by many convincing, infallible proofs. The tomb is still empty, friend! Because He lives, you and I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all fear is gone! Hebrews says that He ever lives to make intercession for us. And the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is the same power that is at work in the lives of believers. Live in His resurrection power today!
